In another branding coup, Microgaming renews licensing agreement with Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc. to produce another Tarzan online slot. Brokered by Creative Licensing Corporation, the deal will see the Isle-of-Man outfit distribute the new game across its entire network of casino partners.
The latest Tarzan slot will be produced by independent developers, Fortune Factory Studios who create online casino games exclusively for Microgaming and real money casinos.
The eponymous character is expected to feature heavily as he takes gamers on a colorful quest for an assortment of in-game rewards. According to Microgaming, this will involve ‘high-energy, captivating animations, thrilling features and distinctive sounds.’
Microgaming’s Original Tarzan Slot
The first Tarzan title was released in December 2016 for desktop and mobile devices. The 5 x 3 slot consisted of 40 pay-lines and a host of characters including the vine-swinging hero himself. With smooth animations and outstanding visuals, the game proved a major hit with gamers.
Despite this, Microgaming has decided to design the new version from the ground up. This means that it won’t be based on the original in any way – perhaps welcome news given that many slot sequels comprise the same or similar mechanics as their predecessors.
Speaking of the deal, Microgaming’s Jean-Luc Ferriere, remarked:
“We are excited to extend our brand partnership with Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc. to create the next iteration of Tarzan, a timeless character and brand with worldwide appeal. “
As part of Thursday’s announcement Ferriere also revealed that Microgaming had plans to introduce additional online slots over the course of the year.
“The upcoming game from Fortune Factory Studios will be one of several new branded slots to launch on Microgaming’s platform this year as we continue to diversify, extend and refresh our content offering.”
James Sullos, President of Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc, was also enthused about the new partnership, commenting:
“Our extended deal with Microgaming will see the creation and launch of a new Tarzan game, which we are confident, will build on the character’s successful first outing with the renowned supplier. We look forward to working with Microgaming and are excited to see the game come to fruition.”
Who’s Tarzan?
Tarzan is a celebrated fictional character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs. He first appeared in the 1912 novel, Tarzan of the Apes. The book was so popular that it spawned 24 sequels, many of which garnered international acclaim.
Tarzan was further immortalized on the silver screen, becoming the subject of more than 50 live action and animated pictures. Some of the most notable movies include Tarzan of the Apes (1918), Tarzan the Ape Man (1932), Tarzan and His Mate (1934), Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984) and Tarzan (1999). The character’s last appearance came in 2016 with The Legend of Tarzan where he was played by Swedish actor, Alexander Skarsgård
The new Tarzan slot will join Microgaming’s burgeoning portfolio of branded casino content. The online slot game, along with its official title, will be unveiled at ICE London 2020.
