Avalanches

The Avalanche mechanic in Gonzo’s Quest Megaways is lifted directly from the original iteration of the game made by NetEnt in 2010. Essentially, this is a variation of ‘cascading reels’ in which winning combinations are cleared from the grid and new icons fall from the top. Any new winning combinations formed are cleared again to continue the cascade until there are no more wins. 

Avalanche, however, has a multiplier attached which increases your payouts with every succeeding cascade or ‘avalanche’ in the combo. The multipliers are as follows:

Earthquakes

Earthquakes are a special mechanic that randomly activates during an Avalanche, wherein high-value icons are guaranteed to fall from the top for the chance at higher payouts.

All variants of Gonzo’s Quest—this Megaways version included—has you following the Spanish explorer Gonzo into a dangerous temple that may hold the riches of the lost city of gold. As such, the art and music showcase motifs reminiscent of the ancient civilizations of Central America.
