Capecod Gaming is actually one of the most well-established game providers in all of iGaming. Its roots can be traced all the way back to 1987, when it started out as a software house. Based in Castel Bolognese, Italy, the company was a small-scale operation, specializing primarily in the local Italian market. As we’ll see, things began to change in 2007 following the release of its first online casino game BIGpoker®.
Ambition is one of the standout features of this Italian iGaming specialist. In contrast to its competitors, though, Capecod has expanded seamlessly into a diverse range of international markets. For most developers, this sort of expansion is performed in stages, but it seems as if Capecod has achieved international exposure in no time at all. Capecod slots and casino games are currently available in 42 jurisdictions around the world (although, not all games are available in those jurisdictions), from Argentina to Uzbekistan. But its biggest is actually the market in Italy.
Despite its global focus, Capecod is careful to emphasize its heritage. All casino games and slots from Capecod are labelled as being “100% made in Italy”.

Some thirty years after being established, Capecod released the very first Italian poker platform: BIGpoker.
Encouraged by its success, the provider released its iGaming Platform a year later in 2008. The company wasted no time in making full use of this proprietary framework, porting land-based slot games from bricks-and-mortar suppliers and then distributing them to online casinos and mobile sites.
By 2012, they were merging their own creative ideas with tried-and-true land-based classics to create fascinating Slot Machines and Table Games. Players all over the world were instantly captivated by these games, making them instant classics.
We saw the release of the first in-house Capecod slots, among them Ultra Joker, the Brig, Stardust and Shangri La. As was the trend during this period, many Capecod slots were available in Flash and HTML5.
However, all games were converted to HTML5 in time for the 2014 launch of the iGaming mobile platform.
As a result, mobile casino games have access to hit games such as Klondike Fever and Stardust Evolution - roulette and blackjack games were added to the Capecod casino game portfolio in 2015.
Then in 2017, the company’s trajectory was irrevocably altered when it was acquired by Italian gaming giant Novomatic. Unsurprisingly, Capecod was named Top 5 Provider in Italy just a year later.
The next major development came in 2020 with the release of slots crafted specifically for portrait mode. This was a courageous step given that not all providers considered such an approach necessary. Even today, a lot of the major developers create slot games for landscape mode, leaving genuine on-the-go gamers to play one-handed, using scaled out game areas.
In 2021 Capecod was acquired by Greentube which is an interactive division of Novomatic. One year later all Capecod games were certified for use in the Spanish market.
Onward to the year 2023, and Capecod's exploits are still limitless! Success has taken them beyond their home country, and they've now entered the Spanish market, where their unique games are attracting new fans.
The recent acquisition by Greentube means that Capecod will continue to create slots and casino games, albeit for Novomatic’s land-based clients and online operators. Although the main focus remains the Italian market, Greentube’s CFO Michael Bauer stated that one of the company’s additional aims was to offer iGaming products to the widest possible audience. So far, Capecod works with operators such as Bet365, Eurobet and William Hill. It seems therefore, that Capecod Solutions is in very good hands.
Given that Capecod is now owned by Greentube and Canada is its largest market, we watch with interest on whether the company will begin the process for a provincial license. The recent regulation of gambling in Canada means that many online casinos in Ontario need to be licensed. Other provinces will likely follow this procedure as well.
The Capecod games portfolio is made up of online slots, poker and blackjack, which are available in multiple languages and currencies.
Capecod slot games feature an eclectic array of themes, with most consisting of cartoonish, humorous twists. Here are the most popular titles.
In the exciting "Gold Rush" adventure featured in "Klondike Fever," for instance, you'll meet amusing characters like "Joe Gold."
Furthermore, the game remains true to the spirit of Capecod, which centres on the idea that gaming should be enjoyable.
Featuring a beautifully designed mining theme complete with elaborate reel animations, Klondike Fever is one of Capecod’s most enduring slots. Released back in 2014, the game comprises a 5 x 3 reel configuration with 25 bet-ways. It’s of low volatility and features a 95.5% RTP.
Although beset by a miserly RTP of 94.03%, Ulysses does feature expanding wilds, adjustable pay-lines and potential pay-outs of 150x your stake for five-of-a-kind wins. There are also no less than three bonus features, including a pick-me mini-game.
Stardust Evolution was released back in 2015 and is a medium volatility five-reel slot. Offering a pleasing RTP of 96.02%, the most notable features here include expanding reels, re-spins and a well-drawn theme that’s reminiscent of a similar game by Netent. Know the one we mean?
Capecod’s introduction into the market was from the casino game BigPoker. Since then, it has gone on to produce games for online roulette casinos as well as games for blackjack. These casino table games are computerised variants, featuring simplified interfaces. Capecod’s casino games are ideally suited to casual, recreational players.
While most of Capecod’s slot games are of the standard variety, a small collection of progressive jackpot slots have been released over the years. These include Bomber Fruit, Guardians of the Kingdom, Portals and Dragons and Drift Kind.
The latest additions to the Capecod games collection include Charming Witches, Dragon Jewels, Gods of Asgard and County Fair.
Currently, Katsubet is the casino with the best payout that has Capecod games. There are a lot of other good payout Capecod casinos with a very similar RTP, so your choice on which casino to join, will probably come down to the welcome offers available.

Pros
Cons
Capecod Solutions cut its teeth in the Italian market and remains a major presence there. Indeed, Novomatic’s acquisition of the company has solidified Capecod’s position in its home country, while also extending its reach abroad. The number of jurisdictions in which it serves slots as well as its proprietary casino software is truly impressive. We see no reason why Capecods expansion won’t continue. Perhaps we’ll see more Capecod table and casino games in the near future as well!
